Today, various types of allergies are quite common. There are many reasons for the development of allergic reactions: food, plant pollen, household dust, pets, insect bites, medications. It is important to start timely treatment when a reaction is detected. Therapy is carried out through the use of antihistamines. Zyrtec is very popular.   • Antipruritic;
  • Anti-exudative.

Zyrtec blocks the release of histamine from mast cells. The drug does an excellent job in the treatment of allergic reactions, and is also used for preventive purposes. Also, tablets significantly reduce the area of migration of the allergen throughout the body. With the timely use of the drug, it helps to avoid the development of edema of the mucous membranes and tissues. Zyrtec is aimed at eliminating the skin manifestations of allergies.

The sedative effect from the use of Zirtek is very rare. Therefore, the drug is approved for use by people whose activities are associated with concentration, physical and mental stress. The active substance is cetirizine chloride. The result becomes noticeable after half an hour after taking the pill. The effect persists for at least a day. Absorption occurs through the digestive system almost completely. It is worth noting that the use of Zirtek can be independent of food intake.

In a small amount, the drug takes part in metabolic processes in the liver. Removal of Zirtek in adults occurs after 10 hours. Instructions for use indicate that most of the drug is excreted by the kidneys unchanged. In children, excretion occurs much earlier - from 3 to 6 hours. With problems with the liver and in the elderly, the absorption and excretion of the drug takes a long time. Therefore, in some cases, the dosage should be increased.
