Avamys

Every third person suffers from allergies. Allergic reactions come in a variety of symptoms and severity. Almost every type of this disease is characterized by allergic rhinitis. It is very important to start timely treatment in order to alleviate the patient's condition. With rhinitis, topical preparations are prescribed - drops, emulsion, spray, solution. Avamys nasal spray has proven itself to be excellent.

Avamys and indications for use

Avamys nasal spray can be used for both seasonal and year-round allergies. The drug is aimed at eliminating the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, which manifests itself as follows:

  • Runny nose;
  • Nasal congestion;
  • Attacks of sneezing.

A runny nose, as a sign of an allergy, often disappears when the irritant is removed. And allergy provocateurs are plant pollen, household dust, animals, food, insect bites, house plants, ultraviolet light, household chemicals and much more. Spray Avamys will help eliminate the symptoms of rhinitis. But for the treatment of allergies, it is necessary to use antihistamines. It is also worth noting that this remedy is not used for colds, as it does not affect viruses.

Avamis spray features

Avamys nasal spray contains a fluorinated corticosteroid. The main active ingredient is fluticasone furoate. This component has an anti-inflammatory effect. Nasal spray is available in vials with different dosage levels:

  • 120 doses;
  • 60 doses;
  • 30 doses.

This is very convenient, because it is possible to choose the drug individually, taking into account the degree of manifestation of rhinitis with allergies. All vials have a spray device. This fact is important when using hormonal drugs. Indeed, when using them, it is necessary to control the required dosage, which cannot be achieved using simple drops. Spray virtually eliminates overdose, which can serve as some changes in the body.

The active substance is not completely absorbed, as it undergoes metabolic processes in the liver. Following all dosage instructions, the spray does not have a systemic effect, and does not reach high plasma concentrations. Fluticasone furoate is quickly released from the general circulation system, as it passes through the liver. When used orally, the drug is excreted through the digestive system. If the drug is used intravenously or orally, excretion occurs mainly through the kidneys.

Method of application and dosage

The instruction indicates that Avamys, in the treatment of rhinitis against the background of allergies, is used only intranasally. To achieve the desired effect, it is required to follow an individual treatment regimen. Avamys nasal spray begins its action already 5-10 minutes after administration, and maintains a positive effect for 7-8 hours. For maximum results, the use of Avamys for several days is required. But, it is worth noting that hormonal drops and sprays are not used for a long time, since the active ingredient is addictive. Thus, there will be no positive impact. In addition, the spray can have a detrimental effect on the nasal mucosa.

The instructions indicate that in the treatment of symptoms of year-round or seasonal allergies, the dosage for adults and children over 12 years of age should be 55 mcg in each nostril just once a day. This dose of 55 mcg is achieved through two sprays. Therefore, the total dosage per day is 110 mcg. This number is initial. If the result is achieved, the scheme should not be changed. Experts advise to gradually reduce the dosage to one spray in each nostril. If the patient is not satisfied with the effect, the scheme must be changed, increasing the dosage.

If a child from 2 to 11 years old suffers from allergic rhinitis, the treatment regimen begins with one injection in each nostril, once a day. Parents should watch the body's reaction to the spray. If the result is not achieved, the number of sprays is increased to two. As soon as a positive effect is observed, and the runny nose from allergies disappears, the drug is canceled by gradually reducing the dose. It is worth going back to a single spray. Such a regimen would provide excellent supportive care.

It is not worth adjusting the dosage for people suffering from any kind of kidney dysfunction, as well as for the elderly. Children under 2 years of age do not use Avamys spray. As for the rules of use, they are very simple. Each vial has an indicator window that helps to control the level of medication in the vial. To achieve the required dosage when injecting the drug, you need to follow these recommendations:

  • Shake the spray bottle thoroughly. Shake the spray for ten seconds without removing the cap. During storage, the product acquires a fairly thick suspension structure, and when shaken, it becomes liquid, acceptable for use. Only in this state is it allowed to use it.
  • The protective cap must be removed.
  • Hold the bottle clearly upright with the spray tip pointing away from you.
  • Press the bottle button several times (7-8). Stop carrying out these manipulations until a cloud appears from the tip. This procedure is carried out the first time a new vial of Avamys is used.
  • After that, the spray is ready for use.

Before use, it is advised to pre-cleanse the nose. For proper spraying of the drug, you need to tilt your head slightly forward. You need to direct the tip not to the nasal septum, but to the outer wall of the nostril. This will enable the drug to have the most positive effect. The injection is made during inspiration. After spraying, you need to exhale through your mouth.

It is also important to properly care for the Avamys bottle itself. After use, the tip and the inside of the cap must be blotted with a wet cloth. But, avoid direct contact with water in the vial. Do not clean the tip with any sharp objects (needle, pin). The spray must always be closed. If for some reason the spray does not work, you need to check the level of the product. If there is a drug in a vial, check whether the vial and sprayer are damaged. The tip may also become clogged.

adverse reactions and contraindications for use

Adverse reactions can be observed when the doses of Avamys are exceeded, and with its prolonged use. So, such manifestations often occur:

  • Nose bleed;
  • Irritation of the nasal mucosa;
  • Irritation of the oral mucosa;
  • Rash in the form of urticaria;
  • Increased sensitivity of the body;
  • Quincke's edema;
  • Anaphylactic shock.

In some cases, with an overdose in children, growth retardation was noticed. Often patients complain of headaches. Among the contraindications, first of all, it is worth noting the increased sensitivity to the active ingredient of the drug. Also, you can not use Avamys spray for children under two years old. The instruction says that you should not combine this remedy during therapy with Ritonavir. If you have liver disease, you should consult your doctor before using Avamys. During pregnancy and lactation, if a woman has an allergy, a nasal spray is used in rare cases, only as directed by a specialist. It should be noted that therapy with such a spray does not affect the central nervous system. Therefore, the drug is approved for use by people whose activities are associated with a high concentration of attention, mental and physical work.
